As part of Chinese Culture Week, several classmates put on a fashion show. They are all wearing a traditional Chinese dress called a Ch'ipao (旗袍). From left to right are: Sophia (Ping) Yu, Nancy (Nan) Hu, Julia (Xiaofei) Zhu, Fei-Fei Liu, and Cynthia (Ying) Yu. All of them may be eligiable bachelorettes but before you rush off to Google them you might need to learn their full Chinese names including the characters (漢字). Hopefully I got the characters right, I ended up using unicode, because I don't know how to read, write, or speak Chinese. I have some modest ability in 日本語. It was hard enough learning to type in a foreign language I actually have studied on my Mac, plus make it work on the web, I had to cop out a bit on 中国語. I'm a fulltime MBA student and it was exam week.
This webpage is old. A lot has happened since this photo was taken, but in 2024 I decided to fix a lot of old webpages including busted links. The Internet is different than it was almost twenty years ago, I think you can have Chinese characters in a URL now and have been able to since 2008 maybe.
